Recent Crime Log


Anyone with information about the following crimes committed on campus please call 661-1109. You don't need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know.

In the past, “Silent Witness” reports have provided leads on cases under investigation. Thanks to those community members concerned with keeping FMU safe and secure.   Please be our eyes and ears out there…help us to help you.

   

 


For the period 01-20-10 through 02-02-10 the following incidents were reported to and investigated by Campus Police:

 

01-21-10

 

  • A report of Drug Equipment Violation, Liquor Law Violation and Violation of Written FMU Policy (Smoking) at Swamp Fox Hall.  Two students issued State Tickets and referred to Student Affairs.
  • A report of Driving under the Influence and Driving under Suspension on Patriot Drive.  One non-student issued State Tickets and jailed.

  • A report of Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Comply with Directions of FMU Official on The Cottage Road.  One student referred to Student Affairs.
  • A report of Violation of Written FMU Policy at the Ervin Dining Hall.  Two students referred to Student Affairs.

 

01-23-10

 

  • A report of Liquor Law Violation at the Forest Villas.  Two students referred to Student Affairs.
  • A report of Vandalism of State Property and Obscene/Harassing Telephone Calls at the Village Apartments.  The victim reports getting unsolicited calls from an ex-boyfriend and person(s) unknown vandalized an apartment door.
  • A report of Theft from a Building at SmithUniversityCenter.  The victim reports their I-pod stolen from a locker.

 

01-25-10 

 

  • A report of Theft from a Building at The Grille.  The victim reports their unsecured book bag stolen.
  • A report of State Property Damage at the Forest Villas.  A sprinkler in the riser room activated causing water damage.  Referred to Facilities Maintenance.

 

01-27-10

 

  • A report of a Fire Response at the Village Apartments.  A short in an electric panel caused an electrical fire.  No residents were at home at the time of fire.  The fire was discovered by Facilities Maintenance personnel and extinguished.  No injuries reported and no personal property damaged.  Referred to Facilities Maintenance.
  • A report of Theft from a Building at SmithUniversityCenter.  The victim reports their unsecured Blackberry Phone stolen.
  • A report of Unauthorized Use/Entry to Facility at Forest Villas.  One student referred to Student Affairs.

 

01-28-10

 

  • A report of Driving under Suspension on Patriot Drive.  One non-student issued a State Ticket, jailed, and issued a Trespass Warning.
  • A report of Missing FMU Parking Decal in Parking Lot “G”.  The victim reports their FMU decal missing.
  • A report of Theft from a Motor Vehicle in Parking Lot “G”.  The victim reports their CD face plate stolen.  This case was closed as Unfounded; the victim later reported friends had played joke and returned her property. 

 

01-30-10

 

  • A report of Noise Violation at the Forest Villas.  Two students issued State Tickets for Noise Ordinance Violation and referred to Student Affairs.

 

01-31-10

 

  • A report of Driving under Suspension at Patriot Drive.  One non-student jailed.

 

02-01-10

 

  • A report of Missing FMU Decal in Parking Lot “B”.  The victim reports their FMU Decal missing.
  • A report of Fire Response at Watson Hall.  A faulty smoke detector caused the fire alarm to activate.  The trouble was referred to Facilities Maintenance.
  • A report of Missing FMU Decal in Parking Lot “G”.  The victim reports their FMU Decal missing.

 

02-02-10

 

  • A report of Trespass of Real Property on The Cottage Road.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.
  • A report of Driving under the Influence and Other Traffic Offenses (Beginners Permit Violation) on Wallace Woods Road.  One non-student issued State Tickets and jailed.

 

The Campus Police responded to six (6) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.

 

 

 

CRIME PREVENTION:  Please lock your car when you park and don’t leave property or items with your personal information in your vehicle.  Don’t make it easy for a thief to get your property.

 

If something looks suspicious or doesn’t feel right, report it to campus police at 1109. You don’t need to give your name but give us the chance to ensure that you and other campus community members stay safe.

 


FOUND PROPERTY:  FMUPD currently has numerous items that were left unattended or found on campus.  If you are missing an item of property and can provide identifying information for your missing property, contact Lt. Ken Pittman at 843-661-1117.
