Anyone with information about the following crimes committed on campus please call 661-1109. You don't need to tell us who you are; just tell us what you know.

For the period 09-15-09 through 09-28-09 the following incidents were reported to and investigated by Campus Police:

 

09-15-09

A report of Simple Assault in the Housing Area.  Two students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Larceny of a Purse at Rogers Library.  The victim’s unsecured purse was stolen.

A report of Driving under Suspension on Patriot Drive.  One non-student arrested.

A report of Drug/Narcotic Violation, Weapon Law Violation and Giving False Information to Law Enforcement on Alumni Drive.  Two non-students jailed and issued Trespass Notices.

A report of a Missing/Stolen FMU Parking Decal at Parking Lot “G”.  The victim reported their FMU Decal missing

 

09-19-09

A report of Drug/Narcotic Violation and Trespass Warning Issued at the intersection of Wallace Drive and Alumni Drive.  Two non-students jailed and issued Trespass Notices.

A report of Drug/Narcotic Violation and Violation of Written Policy/Regulation at Watson Hall.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Driving under the Influence on Wallace Woods Road near “O” Apartment.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Trespass of Real Property on Wallace Woods Road near “O” Apartment.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.


09-21-09

A report of a Weapons Law Violation at the Kangaroo Station off campus.  This report was completed by Florence County Sheriffs Office.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.

 

09-22-09

A report of Damage to Personal Property in Parking Lot “B”.  The victim reports their vehicle damaged while parked.

A report of Theft from a Building at Founders Hall.  The victim reported their unsecured textbooks stolen.

A report of Damage to Personal Property at Marion State Hall.  The victim reports their computer damaged.

A report of Harassment at the Triangle Area.  Four students referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Larceny at Marion State Hall.  One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Trespass of Real Property at Forest Villas.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.

 

09-25-09

A report of Littering and Violation of Written Policy/Regulation (Smoking) at Founders Hall.  One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Theft from a Building at Founders Hall.  The victim reported their wallet stolen.  The report was Unfounded.  The wallet and all contents were found and turned in to Campus Police as lost property.

A report of Harassment at various campus locations.  One student referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Missing/Stolen FMU Parking Decal from Parking Lot “G”.  The victim reported their FMU Decal missing

 

09-26-09

A report of Vandalism of Property at Forest Villas.  A resident reported their bedroom window broken.  Referred to Facilities Maintenance.

A report of Driving under Suspension on Wallace Woods Road.  One student jailed and referred to Student Affairs.

A report of Weapons Law Violation in Parking Lot “G”.  One non-student jailed and issued trespass notice.

 

09-28-09

A report of Obscene, Harassing Telephone Calls at various locations.  The victims report receiving unsolicited calls and text messages.

A report of Property Damage Personal at Parking Lot “F”.  The victim reports their vehicle damaged while parked.

The Campus Police responded to seven (7) requests for Medical Assistance during this period.

 

BIKE AUCTION:

 

The Francis Marion University Campus Police Department has nine (9) unclaimed bicycles in Lost and Found.  These items are being disposed of through sealed bid.  These bicycles are available for viewing from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Campus Police.

 

 

Each sealed bid must include the following:

 

  1. Identification of the bicycle being bid upon by item number.  This is to preclude any misunderstanding about which item is being bid on.
  2. The price bid for each individual bike.
  3. The name, address and phone number and e-mail address of the person making the bid so we can make contact with the highest bidders.

 

Bids will be accepted until noon on October 9th 2009. Bids will be opened at 12:30 PM on October 9th 2009.  The person with the highest bid will be notified by telephone and will have until noon on October 16th to pay for the bicycle at the Office of Business Affairs - Cashier's Office.  The receipt issued by the Cashier will allow the bicycle to be released.  If the top bidder fails to claim the bicycle by noon on the 16th, the next highest bidder will be notified.

 

 

 

 

CRIME PREVENTION:  Please lock your car when you park and don’t leave property or items with your personal information in your vehicle.  Don’t make it easy for a thief to get your property.

 

If something looks suspicious or doesn’t feel right, report it to campus police at 1109. You don’t need to give your name but give us the chance to ensure that you and other campus community members stay safe.

 

 

FOUND PROPERTY:  FMUPD currently has numerous items that were left unattended or found on campus.  If you are missing an item of property and can provide identifying information for your missing property, contact Lt. Ken Pittman at 843-661-1117.
