Systems Support Technician

James A. Rogers Library

Serves as a Systems Technician in the James A. Rogers Library by assisting the Systems Librarian in performing a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

 

  • Designing, managing, and updating the Library’s website and web catalog within the bounds of University guidelines.

 

  • Maintaining operations of the Library’s 50-seat computer lab and Library service desk computers through hardware and software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

 

  • Assisting in the operation and maintenance of the software aspects of the Library’s Innovative Interfaces integrated library system within a shared server environment through routine monitoring and maintenance, supporting system users, including Library and Media Center staff, troubleshooting and analyzing software problems related to all library system functions/operations/services.

 

  • Maintaining both hardware and software aspects of the Library’s FTP and Ghost servers.

 

State Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in computer programming, computer operations, data control, data coordination or the maintenance and repair of computers. An associate degree in computer science or electronics technology may be substituted for the required work experience.

 

FMU Preferred Requirements: High school diploma , working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and basic Microsoft Windows troubleshooting required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree and experience in library work preferred. Also preferred: Working knowledge/experience in web content management system concepts, web languages (HTML, XHTML, CSS, JavaScript), image editing software (Photoshop, G.I.M.P), and image formats. Maintenance and repair of computers, printers, and other devices desirable.

Salary: $31,490
