Administrative Specialist I – Housing and Residence Life

Under limited supervision, greets visitors, answers and directs telephone calls, and performs other clerical tasks such as typing, filing, copying, and faxing for the Housing and Residence Life Department. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Opening and closing the offices on a daily basis;
· Ordering office supplies;
· Maintaining general office appearance and neatness;
· Receiving maintenance requests for student housing, laundry facilities, housing community and activity center; and
· Performing various duties to include loaner keys and equipment to resident, completing room condition reports, posting information throughout the student community as needed, and delivering information to specific residents in support of student housing operations.
State Requirements: There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this position.
FMU Preferred Requirements: A high school diploma or GED and two to three years’ clerical experience is required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos, along with ability to respond to correspondence, is preferred. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is preferred, along with ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
