Assistant Professor of Education

Tenure-track position in Middle Level/Secondary Education or Middle Level /Elementary Education, starting August 2010. The successful candidate will be expected to have successful K-12 teaching experience, English language arts and/or social studies background, an established record of (or demonstrated potential for) standards-based teaching, instructional application of technology, professional service, and scholarly productivity. Responsibilities include teaching elementary, middle level, and/or secondary English language arts and/or social studies methods courses at the undergraduate and graduate level; field-based supervision; academic advising, community and university service; sustained scholarly activity; and participating in program assessment and accreditation activities.
FMU Requirements: Earned doctorate in Education, with specialty in English language arts and/or social studies education from a NCATE accredited institution. ABD with imminent completion date will be considered. Competence in program assessment using NCATE and SPA standards, and experience working in a PDS setting are a plus.
