Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Political Science
The Department of Political Science and Geography at Francis Marion University invites applications for a tenure track appointment in Criminal Justice/Political Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. Ph.D. strongly preferred, ABD considered. The successful applicant will teach Intro. to Criminal Justice, Intro. to U.S. Government, and upper-level criminal justice/public law classes such as Administration of Justice and Rights of the Accused. The opportunity to teach courses in the candidate’s area of expertise is also available. The teaching load is 4-3. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and university service. Professional development and summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.
Francis Marion University is a state-supported regional university with a strong emphasis on the liberal arts. Located in Florence, SC, a growing city with a vibrant arts culture, FMU is within easy driving distance of the state capital, Columbia, the resorts of Myrtle Beach, and other areas of interest, including Charleston, Savannah, and Charlotte.
