Technical Services Librarian 13-20

Rogers Library is accepting applications for a tenure-track Technical Services Librarian at the rank of Assistant Professor who will provide expert Cataloging and Acquisitions services for our students and faculty.

The successful candidate will serve as the head of Technical Services which includes Cataloging and Acquisitions. This position coordinates activities in the Technical Services department, including cataloging, processing, receiving, mail services, and integrated Library Systems functioning. Supervisory experience in cataloging and budget management of materials acquisition for an academic environment is essential.  The successful candidate should display a demonstrated interest in the application of current and emerging technologies to meet the changing needs of users and should have a demonstrated commitment to resource provision to meet patron needs.  The successful candidate must be able to perform complex research and resource processing utilizing print, electronic and digitized resources. Ability to coordinate specialized service area(s) within Cataloging and Acquisitions purview is essential.  Expert ability to identify resources for general and specialized collections, and to perform original and complex copy cataloging of all print and non-print materials, including electronic resources, all according to national standards.  Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects is expected.

The successful candidate must be willing to engage in professional service (e.g., campus and community service; state, regional, and/or national professional associations).  He/she must also exhibit: knowledge of standard information resources and a willingness to embrace new technologies/resources; enthusiasm for the library’s mission and taking on new challenges; positive service orientation; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work collegially and collaboratively; and interest in professional development.

FMU Preferences:  An MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution is required.   Original Cataloging experience and work in an academic library are highly desired.

 Normal Working Hours: This is a 12-month, 37.5 hours/week position which accrues annual leave.
