Human Resources Manager I





  • Works closely with supervisors and heads of academic and nonacademic units to determine classification of and compensation for staff
  • Manages the advertising and hiring process for all available positions at the University including faculty; classified and unclassified staff; and part-time, temporary, and grant-funded employees
  • Carries out all evaluative and training functions of the SC-Employment Performance Management System (EPMS)
  • Assists  Associate Directors in the management of FTE units and payroll functions
  • Understands the duties of other Human Resources staff


SPECIFIC DUTIES include, but are not limited to:


  • Recommends the classification and compensation levels for faculty and staff, and  when applicable, merit increases
  • Assists supervisors in identifying essential job functions and criteria for evaluating performance
  • Produces the official Position Description document
  • Maintains the Human Resources Web Page for Available Positions
  • Creates ads for all print media
  • Supervises data entry for applications
  • Supervises the response to applications
  • Maintains FMU faculty and staff directories on the website
  • Presents data concerning relevant variables (e.g., salary, recruitment costs) in EXCEL spreadsheets


State Requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree and experience in human resources management programs.  Educational level may substitute for human resources experience.

FMU Preferences: 1-3 years of previous experience in Human Resources or related field, preferably in a SC government agency or college/university

State Classification: 5/1       Salary: Commensurate with abilities and state salary guidelines. 

Work Schedule: 8:30am-5:00pm (Monday-Friday).  Summer hours may vary
