The Francis Marion University Department of Athletics is seeking an Athletic Administrative Intern is beginning in August of 2013.  The 9-month position (August-April) is renewable after a year.  Weekend and night work will be required.  The position will be based on a specific hour and wage structure.   

 

Strong communication-- written and verbal-- and interpersonal skills are required.  A working knowledge of athletic administration, game management, and college sports is also expected.

 

Major responsibilities: this position is an integral part of the facilities operations staff, assisting with all operations for all home athletic events.  This opportunity will afford hands-on experience as well as in-depth knowledge of the administration functions of personnel in an intercollegiate athletic program.  The intern will be exposed to all aspects of a NCAA Division II athletic program, including but not limited to game management, marketing, and promotions.

 

Francis Marion, a state-supported comprehensive university with an enrollment of approximately 4,000 students, sponsors 12 intercollegiate sports, 10 of which compete in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference and two of which compete as NCAA Division I independents.  Florence, SC, is located in northeastern South Carolina at the intersection of Interstate Highways 95 and 20.  It is 60 miles from the state capitol, Columbia, and from Myrtle Beach.   Historic Charleston is 100 miles away.
