Assistant Professor of Physics



The Department of Physics invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Computational Physics. The Department has nine faculty members, and offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Computational Physics and Health Physics and a collateral in Astronomy. In Spring 2014, an Industrial Engineering major will be added. More information is available at the department website: 


Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physics and teaching experience   


Start Date: August 2013


Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach 9-12 hours of computational physics or physical science lectures and labs each semester and will conduct physics research and involve undergraduates in research projects.


Location: Florence, SC, is a growing city with a vibrant arts culture.  FMU is within easy driving distance of beach resorts and areas of historical interest, including Charleston and Savannah.


Professional Development: Francis Marion provides generous support for conference travel when presenting.  Summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.
