Francis Marion University invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering.  The University has developed a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree program that will commence in Spring 2014.  Initially, the Industrial Engineering major will be housed in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, which oversees programs in physics, pre-engineering and engineering technology.  The successful applicant will teach Industrial Engineering courses and will work with the Coordinator of Industrial Engineering to establish the new major.  The Physics and Astronomy Department website is: http://www.fmarion.edu/academics/Physics.

 

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and some teaching experience in an Industrial Engineering program

 

Start Date: August 2013 or January 2014

 

Responsibilities: This will be the first engineering program on campus. The successful applicant will teach 9-12 hours per semester of lectures and labs. He/she will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Industrial Engineering major and will be able to teach a wide variety of industrial engineering topics.

 

Location: Florence, SC, is a growing city with a vibrant arts culture.  FMU is within easy driving distance of beach resorts and areas of historical interest, including Charleston and Savannah.

 

Professional Faculty Development: Francis Marion provides generous support for conference travel when presenting.  Start-up grant funds and summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.
