Manager of Health Services

Within the scope of training and licensing, serves as a medical care practitioner for university students and other patients as assigned in an ambulatory care setting.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Under the supervision of the University’s physician, provides primary health care services for university students, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and evaluation of general medical problems (including women’s health issues), and performs standard nursing functions.  Provides primary care medical services for adult patients at the HopeHealth site at FMU, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions.
  • Takes responsibility for the administration of the student health program, including establishing medical protocols, reviewing risk management issues, monitoring inventory, and reviewing standards for in-clinic laboratory testing.
  • Performs duties related to clinical supervision and training of health professional students.  Provides assistance with off-campus health screenings as part of the Advancing Rural Community Health (ARCH) program in cooperation with Department of Nursing.
  • Oversees the University’s immunization program.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of health/wellness programs and provides outreach to the campus community in an engaging manner.

 

Necessary Special Requirements:  Valid, current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Carolina.  Eligible for certification by a nationally recognized certifying organization as an adult or family advanced practice nurse with prescriptive authority.

 

FMU Preferred Requirements:  Nurse Practitioner with national board certification and appropriate and current state licenses.  Prescriptive authority in the State of South Carolina required.  Prefer three or more years of primary care experience.  Valid certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by the American Heart Association required.  Ability to perform complete gynecological exam and STD screening for men and women.  Experience with young adult/college-aged populations desirable. Excellent time management skills plus the ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment are a must.  Must be able to relate positively with students from all backgrounds and origins.  Must have keen attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.

 

State Classification:  UE07

 

Normal Working Hours:  8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.  Summer hours may vary.
