Library Technical Assistant

(13-52)

 

Under general supervision of the Circulation Manager, provides lending, borrowing, and other user services to library patrons. Normal work schedule includes afternoons/evenings, Sunday through Thursday, with hours varying during interim periods and summer sessions. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists patrons with finding materials needed and monitoring returned items
  • Assists in inventorying the collection, shelf-reading projects, and routine shifting
  • Maintains online records relating to library user registration
  • Provides training and supervision of student workers
  • Monitors overdue and fine notices
  • Creates delinquent users list and other reports as needed
  • Checks and clears returned books
  • Manages all building operations, usage, and security during evening and Sunday schedules
  • Assists library users in the use of photocopier equipment, performing minor repair, as needed

 

State Requirements:  A high school diploma and experience in library or clerical work.

 

FMU Preferences:  A high school diploma and experience in library work required.  May acquire the experience through secondary education and two years of successful library work experience, or through two years of college.  Needs working knowledge of standard office organization, including word processing and related automated functions and the skills and abilities to accurately perform routine duties.  Computer proficiency preferred.

Band/Level:  3/2

 

Salary:  $23,694

 

Normal Working Hours:  Sunday through Thursday, 2:30pm-11:00 pm.  Summer hours may vary.
