Under general supervision, performs routine police officer duties enforcing state, county and municipal laws, rules and regulations for the protection and security of people and property. Must communicate effectively. Carries firearms, operates a law enforcement vehicle, effects arrests, performs rescue functions and engages in law enforcement patrol functions.
State Requirements: A high school diploma and certification by the Department of Public Safety in accordance with § 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
FMU Preferences: High school graduate, with experience in first aid, firefighting and pistol marksmanship. Required to participate and successfully complete SCCJA (SC Police Academy) training if not currently Class 1 police officer certified. One year’s experience in law enforcement or military police would be helpful. Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Policy and compliance with policy required. Must be 21 years of age or older, have a satisfactory credit report, a valid SC driver’s license, and pass an extensive background investigation.
