For the period 9-2-2014 through 9-9-2014 the following incidents were reported to and/or investigated by Campus Police:

9-2-2014 – Littering/Policy Violation – While Campus Police officers were conducting a routine walk-through of the residence halls, several party flyers were noticed scattered on the ground.  A resident student who was passing out the same flyers happened to be by the Octagon.  The student was advised of the University policy on distributing flyers on campus and the legal ramifications of littering.

9-2-2014 – Assistance to the FCSO – A Florence County Deputy Sheriff requested assistance with a vehicle he stopped near Fore Road.  The vehicle was occupied by one resident student and two non-students.  The Deputy located marijuana in and around the vehicle.  All three were arrested by the Deputy and transported to the county jail.

9-3-2014 – Drugs – Campus Police officers responded to a complaint of marijuana smoke in a Henderson Apartment.  After several minutes of knocking the resident students opened the door but alleged the marijuana smoke was from unknown persons who were in the apartment earlier in the day.  Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and empty liquor bottles were located in the apartment.  Three students arrested for drug possession and referred to Student Affairs.

9-4-2014 – Traffic Violations – While on routine patrol, a Campus Police Officer noticed a vehicle which did not have a University parking decal being driven around campus.  Due to the late hour, the officer stopped the car for a violation of the University’s traffic regulations.  One non-student issued several state traffic tickets and escorted off campus.

9-4-2014 – Housing Policy Violations – Campus Police assisted Housing officials with a complaint of an Allen Hall apartment resident violating the University’s housing policies.  Both residents of the apartment at first denied having any unregistered guests.  A non-student was found hiding under a comforter in the commons area and another hiding in the bathroom.  Two resident students referred to Student Affairs and Housing for policy violations.

9-5-2014 – Alcohol Violations – While on routine walking patrol of the residence halls, Campus Police officers detected excessively loud noise coming from a Palmetto Hall room.  Beer and liquor were found in the room.  Two resident students referred to Student Affairs and Housing for policy violations.

9-5-2014 – Alcohol Violations – While on routine walking patrol of the residence halls, Campus Police officers noticed a student walk out of a Belle Isle room.  The student had a red solo cup in his hand and upon seeing officers, quickly turned around and hurried back in his room.  The student and his roommate said they poured the drink out before they opened the door for the officers (about 15-20 seconds after the student first saw the officers in the hall).  The sink was dry and the cup was plainly visible in the trash can still filled with an alcohol drink.  The two students were referred to Student Affairs for policy violations.

9-5-2014 – Drugs – While on routine walking patrol of the residence halls, Campus Police officers detected the distinct smell of marijuana coming from a Snow Isle Hall room.  Officers discovered noticed a marijuana cigarette on the desk as they were talking to the student.  One resident student arrested for marijuana possession and referred to Student Affairs for policy violations.

9-9-2014 – Drugs & Trespassing – While responding to a complaint of marijuana smoke in a Dalton Apartment, officers talked with two resident students and a non-student. All three told the officers that two unknown persons, who had just left prior to the officers arrival, were the ones actually smoking marijuana.  The non-student was on the University’s trespass list for a burglary/larceny charge from last semester.  This non-student was arrested for trespassing.  The two students were referred to Student Affairs for policy violations.
