Campus Police

Chief's Intro

Welcome to the Campus Police web site. I hope you find this site informative and responsive to your needs.

The FMU Campus Police Department is a progressive organization committed to providing a safe and secure campus environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Our mission is to provide police protection to the campus community and foster an atmosphere that enhances the campus learning experience while complementing the University's educational mission. The Campus Police Department investigates crimes, responds to emergencies, conducts crime prevention education/awareness and provides support services tailored to meet the needs of those who reside, work and visit our campus.  In order to maintain this high level of service, our department will excel in professionalism, integrity, training, and partnership with our campus community.

In order to keep the campus as free from crime as possible we need the help of the entire campus community.  If you see something that looks unusual or just "doesn't feel right", trust your feelings, call Campus Police at (843) 661 - 1109 or use the Silent Witness page here on our website.

Although we work everyday to meet these goals with our own departmental programming, I urge the members of our campus community to provide feedback or ideas to me that will enable the Campus Police Department to enhance our service to you and Francis Marion University.  You can reach me at (843) 661 - 1109 or by email at dtarbell@fmarion.edu
