Part-Time Assistant Women’s Softball Coach
Francis Marion University, an NCAA Division II institution, invites applications for the position of Part-Time Assistant Women’s Softball Coach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the Head Coach with recruiting, scouting of opponents, and training members of the women’s softball team;
Maintaining contact with area high school coaches for prospects through direct interviews and correspondence in accordance with regulations established by the governing bodies of the NCAA and Peach Belt Athletic Conference;
Assisting the Head Women’s Softball Coach in monitoring student-athletes for academic requirements, retention, and progress toward graduation, including assisting with eligibility verification of team members and coordinating with head trainer any special needs or injuries student-athletes may have;
Assisting with management of game-day activities, such as statistics, manager supervision, and travel for away games;
Assisting with all fundraising activities;
Assisting the Head Coach in meeting with various community organizations to promote interest in the athletic program at Francis Marion University; and
Performing all duties in compliance with NCAA Division II and Bloodborne Pathogen policies and procedures.
A bachelor’s degree is desired. Previous coaching experience is required, along with ability to communicate and teach skilled athletes in softball. Valid South Carolina Driver’s License required. Candidates must have a working knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
Francis Marion, a state-supported comprehensive university with an enrollment of approximately 4,000 students, sponsors 12 intercollegiate sports, 10 of which compete in the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference and two of which compete as NCAA Division I independents. Florence, SC, is located in northeastern South Carolina at the intersection of Interstate Highways 95 and 20. It is 60 miles from the state capital, Columbia, and from Myrtle Beach. Historic Charleston is 100 miles away.
Salary and Benefits: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Participation in the SC Retirement Systems is optional. No health or dental benefits included.
