The Department of Political Science and Geography at Francis Marion University invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Political Science, with the ability to teach public law and/or public administration. A Ph.D. in political science is strongly preferred. ABDs and J.D.s will be considered. The successful applicant will teach courses related to the candidate’s area of expertise, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and Introduction to U.S. Government. The teaching load is 4-3. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and university service. Professional development and summer research stipends are available on a competitive basis.
Francis Marion University is a state-supported regional university with a strong emphasis on the liberal arts. Located in Florence, SC, a growing city with a vibrant arts culture, FMU is within easy driving distance of the state capital, Columbia, the resorts of Myrtle Beach, and other areas of interest, including Charleston, Savannah, and Charlotte.
