Police Officer (14-48)

 

Under general supervision, performs routine police officer duties enforcing state, county and municipal laws, rules and regulations for the protection and security of people and property.  Must communicate effectively.  Carries firearms, operates a law enforcement vehicle, effects arrests, performs rescue functions and engages in law enforcement patrol functions.


State Requirements: A high school diploma and certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with § 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.


FM Preferences: High school graduate, with experience in first aid, firefighting and pistol marksmanship.  Required to participate and successfully complete SCCJA (SC Police Academy) training if not currently Class 1 police officer certified.  One year's experience in law enforcement or military police would be helpful.  Knowledge of Bloodborne Pathogen Policy and compliance with policy required.  Must be 21 years of age or older, have a satisfactory credit report, a valid SC drivers' license, and pass an extensive background investigation.

Salary: $26,139


Normal Working Hours: Rotating Shifts


Materials Needed: 1) Letter of Interest (Referencing Position Number 14-48); 2) FM Staff Application; 3) resume; 4) copies of all transcripts (official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate); 5) valid SC driver's license (copy); 6) 10-Year Motor Vehicle Record from SC Highway Department (original); 7) Social Security Card (copy); 8) DD214 for Military Services, if applicable (copy); 9) Police Officer Certification, if applicable (copy); and 10) Satisfactory Credit Report (for interviewees only).
