Working in the Writing Center can be a rewarding professional experience. Learn how you can make a difference by joining our staff.

Students often find that working as a tutor in the FMU Writing Center can be an enriching educational experience. Tutoring can help you to develop your interpersonal communication skills, build experience in counseling and instruction, and even help you to improve your own writing abilities. In today's marketplace, college graduates with excellent oral and written communication skills are in high demand. Working as a tutor in the FMU Writing Center can help you to demonstrate your abilities to prospective employers. Our recent tutors have been accepted to prestigious graduate programs and have successfully located employment in teaching and publishing.

If you are interested in learning more about tutoring or filling out an application, please contact Dr. Meredith Reynolds, Writing Center Director, through email or by phone at 661-1528. Applications can be picked up in the Writing Center, located in FH 114-C.  Successful applicants must have completed the English composition sequence (through English 102) and have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher.  Hiring periods generally occur near the end of the fall semester and near the end of the spring semester.
