Once again this year during Homecoming 2009, the Francis Marion University School of
Education Alumni will present three awards, the Novice Educator Award, the Veteran
Educator Award, and the Administrator Award.
The Novice Educator Award recognizes a successful FMU graduate who
demonstrates leadership in education and beyond and meets the following criteria:
· Should be a baccalaureate and/or master’s degree recipient of

College or
Francis
Marion
University
· Conveys a strong sense of pride and loyalty for his/her alma mater
· Demonstrates success in his/her educational endeavors
· Serves his/her community through active involvement in civic and/or
charitable and service organizations
· Has been an educator at the early childhood, elementary, middle, or
high school level with one to three years’ experience
The Veteran Educator Award recognizes a successful FMU graduate
who demonstrates leadership in education and beyond and meets the
following criteria:
· Should be a baccalaureate and/or master’s degree recipient of

· Conveys a strong sense of pride and loyalty for his/her alma mater
· Demonstrates success in his/her educational endeavors

The Administrator Award recognizes a successful FMU graduate who

v Nominations will be conducted via the
School of
Education website
through the provided form to be completed by the person making the nomination.
v Persons making nominations will be asked to provide the names and contact
information of at least two persons who know the nominee first- hand.
v Nominations will take place beginning October 8, 2008 through 5:00 PM, November 8, 2008.
v November 10, 2008, a Selection Committee composed of Francis Marion
University School of Education Alumni and FMU School of Education
faculty will select the awardee from the nominations received.
v Award recipients will be honored on February 12, 2009 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM
at the School of Education Wine and Cheese Reception during Homecoming 2008.
