Dr. Amy Rubens

Amy Rubens earned her BA from the University of Delaware and her PhD from Indiana University. She studies representations of contagious disease and their treatments in late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century American and African American literature. In addition to the medical humanities, she has research and teaching interests in memoir, composition, and writing in digital environments. Some of Amy’s public scholarship is available on her blog, The Ambulant Scholar, where she writes about “books, backpacking, and everything in between.” At FMU, Amy teaches primarily composition and business writing courses.
