Heather Epes receives her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on Composition and Writing Centers. She received her undergraduate degree in English and Medieval Studies from Duke University. Heather serves as Assistant Director of the Writing Center as well as Assistant Professor in the English Department. In addition to composition and transformative pedagogy, Heather has academic interests in the ongoing cultural presence of pulp fiction genres, especially comics and graphic novels, fantasy and science fiction. She has presented at SAMLA, SWCA and IWCA, and was published this year in After the Pain: Critical Essays on Gayl Jones.
