Dr. William M. Ramsey
Ph.D. University of North Carolina
Dr. Ramsey teaches American literature. His specialties are Southern literature and black literature. He is also a widely published haiku writer, and his book of haiku This Wine was published in 2002. His conventional verse has appeared in Chiron Review, The Christian Century, Commonweal, Exquisite Corpse, Poetry Motel, South Carolina Review, Southern Poetry Review, and others. He is at work on a book about black perceptions of the South, based on articles he has written on Frederick Douglass, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Charles Chesnutt, Jean Toomer, Zora Neale Hurston, Toni Morrison, and others. His articles have appeared in journals such as African-American Review, American Literature, and Southern Literary Journal. A haiku from This Wine:
