Mr. Bolt, a Ph. D. candidate in History at the University of Tennessee, began teaching at Francis Marion in 2009. He has published articles in American Nineteenth Century History and the Journal of East Tennessee History. For four years, Mr. Bolt served as an Assistant Editor at the James K. Polk Project where he researched, edited, and transcribed documents that have been published in volume 11 of the Correspondence of James K. Polk. His dissertation, “The Tariff in the Age of Jackson,” analyzes the rancorous tariff debates of the antebellum era. Mr. Bolt is originally a native of Buffalo, New York.
