Dr. Chapman, the Provost of Francis Marion University, is a Missouri native who is in his second tour of duty at FMU. He was a professor of History at the university from 1989 to 1999; during that time he served as chair of the department and director of the Honors Program. He returned in 2000 to take up his current post.
Dr. Chapman's main areas of interest are American political and economic history. He is author of "Federal Housing Laws During the 1960s," published in The Sixties in America (Salem Press, 1999) and has also had works published in The Journal of American History and in Encyclopedia USA: The Encyclopedia of the United States of America -- Past and Present (Oxford University Press).
