Transferring files to/from the Alpha1 Using WS_FTP
- On the Windows Desktop double click the WS_FTP icon or go to the Start
Button and select form the Programs Menu. A terminal box should appear named
Session Profile
- There are three fields that you should be concerned with.
- The first is Profile Name. You should select Alpha 1 from the
listbox.
- The second is User ID which is your user name (ex.MORG39905).
- the third is your Password. It is the password associated with
your User Name.
- After you complete the fields click Okay. A new window will appear
called WS_FTP. It is divided into two halves. The left half
(C:\Directory Name) is the computer you are at. It lists a directory of your
files (much like Windows Explorer or My Computer). You can navigate using the
up arrow which changes directories. The right half is a list of files that you
have on the alpha server. It also works like Windows Explorer or My Computer.
You also have several buttons along each of the sides which are self
explanatory.
- When you wish to pass files, observe the arrow buttons in the center of
the Window. One points left and the other right. This is how you pass the
files. If you wish to pass a file form your disk to the alpha server. Select
the file (it will highlight in blue) and click the right arrow. It will then
send your file to the alpha and if you wish to send a file from alpha to your
disk, click a file under alpha (blue highlight) and press the left arrow
button. Your file will be sent.
- As of this point you should have sent the file. If you get a message
similar to "timed out" or "Connection Reset", simply exit the program and
start the process over.
