Future Students:

You're a motivated, creative and inquisitive student looking for a college experience that challenges and engages you. You’re hoping for different and innovative courses and a community of like-minded friends who will share your journey.

                                       FMU Honors is for you!

FMU Honors is designed to reward excellent students with enhanced educational opportunities that reward inquiry, stimulate learning and promote community involvement. FMU Honors offers a unique curriculum, special social and co-curricular activities, community living and study abroad opportunities. We also reflect FMU’s commitment to personalized instruction, low faculty-to-student ratios and an enriching undergraduate experience.

Admission to FMU Honors is made by application.   Accepted students enjoy smaller classes, seminar-style teaching and new symposia and special topics courses available only to Honors students, as well as optional Honors housing, social events, and access to the Washington Semester internship program and international travel.   One of the most popular activities is the annual Honors trip to, for instance, New York City, Washington DC and Philadelphia.

The Honors Program is open to eligible students with strong academic records. (Other students may apply for admission to a specific Honors Course.) Initial eligibility for the Honors Program is determined by SAT or ACT scores, or by outstanding individual achievement not reflected by test scores.

Freshmen must earn a first-semester grade point average of 3.0 or above order to become or remain eligible for the Honors Program. Second-semester freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors must maintain an overall grade point average of at least 3.25  in order to become or remain eligible.
