MBA 740 Applied Corporate Finance (3)

Corporate financial theory and application are studied and then applied in competitive team projects.  The corporate investment decision is addressed, along with working capital management, financial security valuation, costs of raising capital, capital structure decisions, and dividend policy.  Contemporary financial matters and the economic environment, both from domestic and international perspectives, are also addressed.

Dr. Michael P. Hughes joined the Francis Marion faculty in 2003. He teaches Corporate Finance, Real Estate Finance, Investments, and Financial Institutions & Markets. His research is focused in the areas of Market Microstructure, Financial Markets, Investments, and Financial Econometrics. His research has appeared in the The Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, the Journal of Economics and Business, andJournal of Economics and Finance.

Prior to his joining the ranks of academia, Dr. Hughes served over 21-years in the U.S. Air Force. During that time he spent over 14-years in nuclear treaty monitoring and related activities, while the initial 7-years were in the aircraft maintenance (propulsion) arena with F-4 and F-15 aircraft.
