Maria Garcia Otero
Assistant Professor of Spanish

Prof. María García Otero earned her undergraduate degree in English Philology at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Spain). She received her M.A. in Spanish and Latin American Literature in 2006 from the University of Kansas, and she is currently finishing her dissertation on Spanish Medieval and Early Modern literature.

Prof. Otero taught courses on language, culture and literature at the University of Kansas for six years, where she served as course coordinator of the Spanish basic language program for the academic year 2007-2008.  She also worked as assistant director in summer study abroad programs to Mexico, Spain, Belgium and France. In 2010 she was awarded with the Chancellor´s Graduate Teaching Assistant Award, for excellence in teaching during the academic year 2008-2009.

She is currently serving as editorial assistant of La Coronica, A Journal of Medieval Hispanic languages, Literatures and Cultures.
