Amy McAllister, who received her BA in English with Secondary Certification from FMU in 2007, was named 2012 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. Amy was also named Florence District 5 Teacher of the Year in 2011.

Amy is an English teacher at Johnsonville High School. Amy worked extensively in the Writing Center as an undergraduate at FMU. After she graduated, Amy returned to FMU as a Fellow in the 2009 Swamp Fox Writing Project Summer Institute.

FMU Alumni Sonya W. Graves  is the principal of the Lucy T. Davis Elementary School. The new facility, located at 3364 Hoffmeyer Road, opened its doors fall 2012. Sonya received her Bachelors of Science and Masters of Education in Elementary Education from FMU.
