2nd Degree RN to BSN Students

Steps for Admission and Enrollment in the 2nd Degree RN to BSN Track

  • Contact Ms. Devin Cribb through email or phone (843-661-1226). Transcripts will be reviewed during this meeting, so you will need to bring or send transcripts from each institution attended. During this evaluation, Ms. Cribb will determine your needed general education courses and develop an academic plan. **Please note: all general education needs to be completed before starting the nursing courses. 
  • Apply to Francis Marion University. 
  • Once admitted to FMU, the student will submit the required forms to our online tracking system. Instructions will be sent with the orientation packet. 
    • Unencumbered valid nursing license
    • Complete all requirements found on the Certified Background System. The Department of Nursing uses this web-based system to hold all student information. 


RN to BSN students who are Marlboro County Residents Only:

To be considered for a scholarship that originates from Marlboro County Hospital Board of Trustees you must be accepted into the program for Fall semester in by June 15th (or Spring semester by December 15th). Scholarship awards are variable each semester and never guaranteed.

General Education Requirements for those with a Bachelors Degree in another area AND an Associate's Degree in Nursing or diploma in Nursing:

  • Psychology 334**
  • Statistics
  • Science Elective equivalent to FMU's Biology 105 or Chemistry 101
  • Anatomy
  • Microbiology
  • Physiology

**RN to BSN students may take a social science elective (sociology, geography, political science, economics) in place of PSY 334.
