Pledge & Motto:

I shall endeavor to advance the study of chief literary masterpieces, to encourage worthwhile reading, to promote the mastery of written expression, and to foster a spirit of fellowship among students specializing in the English Language and Literature ever keeping in mind our international motto: Sincerity, Truth, Design.

Purpose:

The Society shall be literary, educational, and charitable. The Society shall strive to:

• Confer distinction of high achievement in English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies.
• Provide through its local chapters, cultural stimulation of college campuses and to promote interest of literature in the surrounding communities.
• Foster the discipline or English in all its aspects, including critical and creative writing.
• Promote good fellowship among its members.
• Exhibit high standards of academic excellence.

Requirements:

In order to become a member of Sigma Tau Delta one must be an English major or minor who has completed a minimum of 30 semester hours and has an overall GPA of 3.0.
