Visit Us!

Francis Marion University’s compact, walkable campus is set on 468 wooded acres in the heart of South Carolina’s Pee Dee Region. It’s an inviting, peaceful place that’s just right for some serious studies and … some serious recreation.

Some have said it is South Carolina’s most beautiful college campus. We might have said that. We might be biased, but we think that’s pretty close to the truth. No need to take our word for it. Come visit and see for yourself. Tours and Open Houses (see below) are available on a regular basis.

While you’re here to see what there is to see, ask some questions, talk to some students and maybe even chat with a professor or two. You’ll have a good time, we promise!

Campus tours are available most weekdays throughout the year. If you can’t find a pre-scheduled time that suits you, give us a call (843-661-1231), and we’ll do our best to accommodate. We conduct tours for individual families and large groups, so feel free to bring a friend. Large group tours do require an appointment.

During your visit, you’ll have the chance to meet with an admissions counselor and current students. Professors may be available, too. It’s best to make that request when you make a reservation. That will help us find professors in the majors that most interest you.

Daily Tours: Are planned at 10:30 am, Monday-Friday, when the university is open for normal operations.

Group Tours: Are generally scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday mornings, but are best handled by reservation.

Special Note: Each prospective student wishing to tour FMU must complete the request separately.
Tours begin at the Stokes Administration Building in the Admissions office (Suite 113)

Tour Etiquette: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking. Food and drink is available on campus, but you’re welcome to bring a water bottle, etc., with you. Tours depart promptly from the Admissions Office (Suite 113) in the Stokes Administration Building. We advise guests to arrive 15 minutes before tour time to check in. Parking is available in any campus lot. Note that parking in the lots nearest the Stokes Administration Building can be difficult.

Special Accommodations: Please let us know if members of your group need any special accommodations during the tour. We’ll do our best to make sure access is available to everyone for the entire experience.

Open House is a great opportunity to see our campus, meet our students, visit with faculty and staff, and learn more about programs and services at FMU. Deciding on a college is an exciting time. We have a lot to offer at FMU: small classes, excellent teaching, and many opportunities for involvement. Bring your parents/guardians and spend the morning with us!

Or call us at 800-FMU-7551 or 843-661-1231

Open House events scheduled for Spring 2018 are:

  • Saturday, March 3, 2018
  • Saturday, April 7, 2018

Check-in starts at 8:00 am and the day concludes with lunch beginning at 12:30 pm.

At Open House, you can attend four sessions that you select ranging from FMU’s majors to student services to activities. Topics will include our academic programs, financial assistance, residence life, campus services, admissions, honors and more! An Information Fair will also provide an informal way for you to gather information and ask questions. Many different campus groups such as athletics, honors, student organizations and other services will be there. (Come prepared for plenty of walking and the possibility of rain!)
