New Students: Registration
Please note that prior to registering, all new students MUST:

Take necessary placement tests – If you have not had college level English, you must plan to take the University Placement Test before registering. To make an appointment for the test, call the Office of Counseling and Testing at 843-661-1840. There is a $5 fee for this test.

Complete immunization records – The immunization form you received with your acceptance letter must be completed prior to registration. If you have questions about this process or need a new form, please call the Admissions Office at 843-661-1231 or 1-800-368-7551.

Attend Orientation – Orientation is required for all new freshmen and transfer students. It’s a great way to learn your way around campus, meet new friends, and register for classes. You’ll have a chance to meet with your adviser and register online with Swamp Fox Web for Students. . We will mail more information about Orientation to you later.  We look forward to having you as a student at FMU!

Registration: 

You may register during registration in your adviser’s office. If you have been accepted to FMU, but do not know who your adviser is, you should attend Orientation to receive an adviser assignment and directions to his/her office. Meet with your adviser and register for classes. After you are registered, you must pay your fees. Your registration is not complete until you confirm your schedule and pay your fees. Student ID cards can be made in Rogers Library.

Confirming Your Schedule
We try to make bill payment easy by offering you several options for payment:

Web – You may pay and/or confirm your schedule via the web. After you have completed your schedule, click on the Accounting’s web page. Under Fall term, select pay fees/apply financial assistance. If you have financial assistance to cover all charges, you need only to apply your aid. If you owe a balance, you may pay it with VISA, MasterCard, or Discover. 

Walk-In – You can bring the bill, along with your payment, to the Cashier’s Office. Checks should be made payable to Francis Marion University.  

Even if you have a $0 balance, you must confirm your classes and apply your financial aid through the Accounting’s web page. 

Late Registration and Drop/Add: 

During late registration, you must meet with your adviser to be cleared for web registration. You may access Swamp Fox Web for Students, via the Internet (www.fmarion.edu) from on-campus computer labs or from your home computer. If you do not know who your adviser is or if you need an adviser assignment, contact the administrative assistant in the department of your major. Questions about your admission status should be directed to the Admissions Office.  Remember, you must confirm your schedule and pay your fees on the day of your registration in order for registration to be complete.

NOTE: A late fee of $25 will be assessed if you register during late registration.


You may make schedule changes during the Drop-Add period by using Swamp Fox Web for Students. Remember to clear all changes in your schedule with your adviser!
