For the second year, Francis Marion University and the Internal Revenue Service have joined forces to provide free tax return services to the Greater Florence area, FMU students, staff and faculty, each Thursday night beginning Jan. 25 through April 8.
Community members who need tax assistance can receive it from FMU Tax II students in the School of Business computer lab located in Founders Hall room 259 C, through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Services will be provided on Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m.
As required by the VITA program, the students are trained and certified with classes in partnership and corporate tax. They will be supervised under their instructor, Brad Johnson, FMU School of Business tax professor.
In order to have your taxes prepared, you will need to bring your driver’s license, social security card and W-2 forms.
For more information about the service, contact Johnson at (843) 661-1427.
