Future Students:

Business community provides training to FMU students

FMU students who want to become leaders in their chosen professions are encouraged to attend the day-long series of classes, Connection 2 Success, at Francis Marion University on Thursday, March 15.

More than 20 local executives will participate in the event sponsored by Delta Sigma Pi and the faculty of the School of Business.

This year’s Connection 2 Success program features four sessions:

  • Session 1 (9:55 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.) has five different lectures that will expose students to a day in the life of different professionals. Students will hear from local professionals in the areas of accounting, information technology, marketing, sales, and local entrepreneurship.
  • Session 2 (11:20 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.) presents a session on body language and how to dress for success. There is also a session for students of all majors to attend to help them decide on majors and future career paths.
  • Session 3 (12:45 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.) will feature a seminar on networking and building strategic relationships.
  • Session 4 (2:10 p.m. – 3:25 p.m.) will feature a lecture on “What It’s Like to Be a Chief Financial Officer,” and a separate session on “Overcoming Fear and Anxiety.”

“We are very excited about this year’s program,” said Mary R. Dittman, instructor of marketing and coordinator of Connection 2 Success. “We have many high-level executives who have volunteered their time and expertise to come speak to our students.”
