Twenty-eight Francis Marion University students crossed the stage to receive their nursing pins Friday, marking the end of their education in the college’s Nursing Program and the beginning of their career as nurses. These students are the first to graduate from FMU’s Nursing Program since the transfer of control from the Medical University of South Carolina.
The Nursing Pinning Ceremony took place in Lowrimore Auditorium on FMU’s campus.
Registered nurse Renatta Loquist was the guest speaker. Fred Carter, FMU president, and Sylvia R. Lufkin, chair of the Department of Nursing, also addressed the students.
The pinning ceremony is a way to formally recognize students when they finish the program.
