Pee Dee Area College Fair planned for Sept. 19 at FMU
High school students and their parents from across the state can meet one on one with admission representatives from more than 50 colleges and universities at Francis Marion University’s annual college fair on Sept. 19.
This free event will feature a morning program to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and for those who can’t make it during the day, there will also be an evening program from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Both will be held in the Smith University Center. This is the fifth year FMU has hosted this event.
“This is a great way for students to get help navigating the complex process of applying to college,” said Tasha Stryker, FMU admissions counselor. “We encourage public and private high school students and their parents to attend. It’s also open to home schooled children.”
The event not only offers parents the opportunity to ask questions about courses, costs, and other items, but workshops on financial aid will also be made available. Scholarship information and many other resources are available on the site. Representatives from all branches of the military will also be present to answer questions.
The annual college fair is sponsored by the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO).
“CACRAO provides an excellent opportunity for Francis Marion and other universities to partner with high schools, civic organizations and companies who have an interest in providing good information about higher education opportunities,” said Maggie Gause, FMU senior admissions counselor.
