FLORENCE, S.C. – Kim O. Turbeville has been named director of alumni affairs at Francis Marion University.
Turbeville will be responsible for developing and managing an effective alumni relations program to stimulate interest, build loyalty, increase involvement, and generate support for the university.
She is a 1995 graduate of FMU with a B. A. degree in English. Turbeville replaces Brandie Hayes, who left to pursue another career.
“I am so pleased that Kim will return to her alma mater in such a significant role. I have had the pleasure of working with her on many community and Francis Marion events and know firsthand of her talent and ability to manage projects and motivate others,” Cooper said. “She will bring new vision and energy to the alumni office.”
A Marion native, Turbeville most recently served as an account executive at Adams Outdoor Advertising. Prior to that, she was the director of marketing, customer service and public relations for the Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority.
She has been a member of the Francis Marion University Alumni Association Advisory Board, the Junior League of Florence, the Florence Downtown Development Promotions Committee, the International Festival Planning Committee and many others organizations.
"Francis Marion University has a huge presence in the community, making it central in the lives of so many,” said Turbeville. “I like the fact that as the director of alumni affairs I will have an impact on the university’s presence by helping to keep graduates connected to their alma mater.”
Turbeville is the daughter of Mary and the late Jackie Ammons. She and her husband Darrell have two children: Alex and Grace. The family resides in Florence.
