FMU to feature 2007-08 Film Series, Oct. 23

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University Cinema 2007-08 Film Series will feature Hou Hsiao-hsien’s “Three Times” on Oct. 23.

The film may be viewed at 3:30 and 8 p.m. in the Cauthen Educational Media Center’s Lowrimore Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The film includes three stories of women and men. The first story, "A Time for Love," is set in 1966. In this tale, a soldier searches for a young woman he met one afternoon playing pool. The second story, "A Time for Freedom," is set in a bordello in 1911, and revolves around a singer's longing to escape her surroundings in 2005 in Taipei.

In the third story, "A Time for Youth" dramatizes a triangle in which a singer has an affair with a photographer while her partner suffers. In the first two stories, letters are crucial to the outcome. In the third, it is cell phone calls, text messages and a computer file that determine the outcome.
