FLORENCE – An endowed scholarship has been established at Francis Marion University by the Florence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in memory of Rebecca S. Lunn, former coordinator of provisional programs.
The Florence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Rebecca S. Lunn Scholarship was created to pay tribute to Lunn’s 30 years of service to FMU and her dedication to the sorority.
During her tenure, Lunn was the advisor of the Xi Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and served as President of the local chapter until her illness.
She also advised many students through their transitional year into the university. In addition, she served as parliamentarian of the FMU African-American Faculty and Staff Coalition.
The scholarship will be funded annually in varying amounts depending on the number of recipients and the funding available. Recipients must be a member of Xi Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The student must also have a 3.0 grade-point average or higher, demonstrate a financial need and have earned enough hours to acquire junior status.
In 2007, the Rebecca S. Lunn African-American Faculty and Staff Coalition Scholarship was established by FMU in memory of Lunn to pay tribute to her years of service to FMU and her dedication to the coalition.
