Francis Marion travels to GC&SU; Prepare for White-Out Night on Wednesday

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s basketball teams will play at Georgia College & State University on Saturday night (Jan. 19) in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader.

The doubleheader will open with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard on the radio at 100.1 FM The FAN with Allen Smothers handling the play-by-play.

Both Patriot squads will return home on Wednesday (Jan. 23) to face Augusta State University for the school’s first-ever White-Out Night. The women’s game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.

The first 200 community fans (non-FMU students) attending the Jan. 23 game and wearing white will receive a free t-shirt. All fans are asked to dress in white as the Patriots hope to cause snow-blindness for the blue-clad Jaguars.

The 24th-ranked Francis Marion women are currently 11-1 overall and second in the PBC at 4-1. GC&SU (8-4, 3-2) is tied for third in the conference standings.   The Patriot woman continue to lead Division II in scoring offense (95.8 points per game) and steals per game (21.9). The all-time series with the Lady Bobcats is even at 14-14, but GC&SU has won the last three meetings.

The Francis Marion men (8-4, 2-3) are coming off their 500th all-time win, a 10-point road conference win, while GC&SU (10-2, 4-1) is third in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats lead the all-time series 20-6, including wins in the last three meetings.
