FLORENCE, S.C. – After winning two of three road games over the weekend, Francis Marion University moved up one position to 24th in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll released on Monday (Feb. 4).
The 2-1 Patriots will play at Newberry College (1-2) on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. Senior right-hander Dusty Floyd, who owns an 11-0 career record, is the Patriots’ probable starter. Live stats and the internet broadcast will be available at http://newberryindians.athleticsite.com/
Dating back to the 2005 season, the Patriots have now appeared in 51 consecutive national polls.
Following Tuesday’s contest, Francis Marion will host the third-annual Swamp Fox Challenge, Thursday through Sunday (Feb. 6-10).
The four-day event will feature nine games on FMU’s Cormell Field and two games at Coker College in Hartsville. Daily admission at FMU will be $3 for adults and $2 for students.
On Thursday, FMU will host Coker at 3 p.m. The schedule for Friday has three games at FMU: Coker against UNC Pembroke at noon, St. Andrews Presbyterian College against Lander University at 3 p.m., and Francis Marion playing Anderson University at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, UNCP plays Anderson at noon at FMU and the Patriots host St. Andrews at 3 p.m. In Hartsville, Coker entertains Brevard College at noon and Lander plays Brevard at 3 p.m.
All three of Sunday’s contests will be at FMU with Anderson facing Lander at noon, Brevard playing FMU at 3 p.m., and UNCP playing St. Andrews at 6 p.m.
