FLORENCE, SC - Francis Marion University sophomore Tereza Sykorova has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 17-23.

A native of Zdiby, Czech Republic, Sykorova completed a perfect week with a 2-0 mark at the No. 1 singles position and a 2-0 record at No.3 doubles, along with partner Magda Jezovicova.

In singles competition, she defeated Celine Martin of Georgia College & State University 7-5, 6-4 and Lilia Tzvetanova of North Georgia College & State University 6-1, 6-0. In doubles play, she and Jezovicova lost only three games in winning two matches by scores of 8-0 and 8-3.  

Sykorova pushed her season records to 13-0 in singles and 15-0 in doubles as Francis Marion continues to roll along.  The 10th-ranked Patriot women are 15-0 overall and one of only two unbeaten teams left in PBC play at 7-0.

FMU returns to action on Thursday with a 2 p.m. match at Augusta State University.
