FMU’s Emmanuel named PBC Player of the Week

FLORENCE, SC - Francis Marion University senior Franklyn Emmanuel has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 3-10.

The 20th-ranked singles player in the nation, Emmanuel went 3-0 last week in both singles and doubles play as FMU beat three nationally-ranked opponents. He swept 35th-ranked Tusculum’s Nic Biglow 6-3, 6-2; 27th-ranked Kutztown’s Lukas Labitsch 6-2, 6-3 and 38th-ranked Ferris State’s Lewis DeGeneault 6-3, 6-4.

A native of Colombo, Sri Lanka, he is also ranked 11th in the nation in doubles and his perfect mark in dou­bles play was accomplished with three different partners.

Emmanuel has helped FMU to an 11-1 record and a No. 15 team national ranking. For the season, he owns a 10-1 singles record at the No. 1 position and a 9-3 doubles record.
