FLORENCE – Thirty-three Francis Marion University students crossed the stage to receive their nursing pins on May 1, marking the end of their education in the college’s Nursing Program and the beginning of their career as nurses. These students are the second class to graduate from FMU’s Nursing Program since the transfer of control from the Medical University of South Carolina.

The Nursing Pinning Ceremony took place in Lowrimore Auditorium on FMU’s campus.

James P. Dickey, clinical assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, was the guest speaker. Fred Carter, FMU president, and Sylvia R. Lufkin, chair of the Department of Nursing, also addressed the students.

The pinning ceremony is a way to formally recognize students upon completing the program.
