Pompe’s work to be showcased in FMU Art Gallery Series

FLORENCE – Photo images by Kathleen Pompe, Francis Marion University professor of art, will be on display as part of Francis Marion University’s Art Gallery Series Feb. 17- April 2.

The display is open to the public, free of charge and may be viewed between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Hyman Fine Arts Center galleries.

Pompe’s exhibit is titled “Views of Australia.”

“I took the photographs in this exhibit while in Australia during 2007. The coastline of Queensland, one of Australia’s states, was the primary area of shooting, although I include photographs from numerous coastal areas around the Australian continent,” Pompe said. “Each photograph is intended to give the viewer an impression of the splendor of the vast country that is Australia.”

Pompe teaches photography art in the visual arts program at FMU. For the past 25 years, her photography has been exhibited extensively in one-person, invitational and juried art shows throughout the United States. She has worked in traditional black-and-white, color, and in alternative and Polaroid processes. Since 1995, much of her work is in digital imaging.
