FLORENCE, S.C. – First-year Francis Marion University women’s soccer coach Joel Person has announced the signing of 5-9 defender Rebeccah Hoekstra of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, and 5-2 midfielder Megan Ogiltree of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, to national letters of intent to attend FMU and play for the Patriot women this fall.
Hoekstra is a product of Clarington Central Secondary School, where she played for coach Jon Gale. She was named the Coyotes’ most valuable player three times during her prep career.
She also played with the Ajax Soccer Club.
Ogiltree is a graduate of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, where she played for coach Mike Maiola.
She has also played with the Dixie Blades club team and been a member of the USL’s Toronto Lynx Jrs. squad.
“Rebeccah is a very strong and athletic player,” said Person. “She was the top prospect in the OYSL while playing with Ajax. I look for her to challenge for a starting spot this season.
“Megan also comes from a strong club (Dixie) in the OYSL. She is a valuable left-footed player, works hard, has a great attitude, and has a lot of potential.”
Person inherits 16 letterwinners, including eight starters, from last year’s 6-12-1 squad. The Patriots compete as NCAA Division I independents.
