FMU's Dooley Planetarium to present program, August 23

            FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present a program titled “Celestial Navigation,” Sunday, August 23. 

            The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins. 

            Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. The next program, titled “A Celestial Alphabet,” will be presented on Sunday, Sept. 13.

            There will also be a meeting of the FMU Astronomy Club on August 28 at 7 p.m. in Room 102 in Leatherman Science Building at FMU. These meetings will be held on the last Friday of each month.
