FLORENCE – Tyrus Books will publish the novel, Late Rain, written by Francis Marion University Professor of English and Nellie Cooke Sparrow Chair for a Writer in Residence Lynn Kostoff.
The book will be released simultaneously in hardcover and paperback in June 2010. In addition, Kostoff’s first novel, “A Choice of Nightmares,” will be re-released in paperback by New Pulp Press and will be released in January 2010.
Kostoff has had two books published. A Choice of Nightmares, was published by Crown Publishers of New York in 1991. His second book, The Long Fall was published by Carroll and Graf in 2003 in the United States, England, Germany, France and Japan. He has also written a revised novel, The Work of Hands and a new work, The Length of Days.
Kostoff earned the B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in creative writing from Bowling Green State University. Before joining the FMU faculty in 1985, the Ohio native taught at Indiana State University and the University of Alabama. He has received numerous awards and honors during his tenure at FMU and has served on a host of committees.
In the community, Kostoff consults with local schoolteachers on creative writing projects on a regular basis and makes visits to the schools to talk to the students. He hosts Advance Placement high school students teaching them creative writing. In addition, he assists students entering the Governor’s School of the Art’s with preparing their portfolios.
